SYRACUSE — Hotels in Onondaga County were substantially less full in April than in the year-ago month, according to a new report.
The hotel occupancy rate (rooms sold as a percentage of rooms available) in the county plunged 14.4 percent to 57.1 percent in April from 66.7 percent a year earlier, according to STR, a Tennessee–based hotel market data and analytics company. It was the seventh straight month in which Onondaga County’s occupancy rate declined compared to the year-earlier period.
Revenue per available room (RevPar), a key industry gauge that measures how much money hotels are bringing in per available room, plummeted 16.4 percent to $56.33 in April from $67.42 in April 2018. The county’s RevPar had gained in both March and February.
Average daily rate (or ADR), which represents the average rental rate for a sold room, slipped 2.4 percent to $98.73 in April from $101.12 a year before. That snapped a 12-month streak in which Onondaga County’s ADR rose.

WATERTOWN — Hotels in Jefferson County welcomed fewer guests in April than in the year-earlier month, according to a new report.
The hotel occupancy rate (rooms sold as a percentage of rooms available) in the county declined 4.2 percent to 46.1 percent in April from 48.1 percent a year ago, according to STR, a Tennessee–based hotel market data and analytics company. It was the fourth straight month in which the county’s occupancy rate declined.
Revenue per available room (RevPar), a key industry gauge that measures how much money hotels are bringing in per available room, slipped 1.3 percent to $40.38 in April from $40.91 in April 2018. Jefferson County’s RevPar also fell in each of the first three months of this year.
Average daily rate (or ADR), which represents the average rental rate for a sold room, rose 3 percent to $87.60 in April from $85.01 a year prior. It was the sixth consecutive month in which the county’s ADR rose.

ELMIRA — The board of directors of Elmira Savings Bank (NASDAQ: ESBK) has declared a quarterly cash dividend of 23 cents a share on its common stock.
The Elmira–based banking company will pay the dividend on June 12 to shareholders of record on June 5.
