Szabo has more than 10 years of workforce-development experience with a focus on recruitment and retention strategies. EBERE AZUMAH, M.D., a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN), has joined the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) Women’s Health Center. She previously was an attending physician at Locums Tenens in Alpharetta, Georgia, and at Unity Health Care and Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C. At Providence Hospital, she was a peer review chair where she had the opportunity to investigate and identify the cause of adverse medical events. She mentored, taught, and supervised Family Medicine and OB-GYN residents. Azumah was a co-chair for the Managed Continuing Medical Education (CME) program where she developed curriculum and organized guest lectures. She also supervised the in-house midwifery team. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. Azuham received her master’s degree of public health with a health management concentration from Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts. She earned her doctorate of medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, and she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Long Island Jewish-Northwell School of Medicine in New Hyde, New York. Azumah is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
JOHN A. LOVIER, M.D., a specialist in OB-GYN, has joined the MVHS Women’s Health Center. He previously was director of women’s health at the University of Vermont’s Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, New York. Lovier was also the chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam. He is board-certified with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Lovier earned his bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and a master’s degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. He received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York, and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester Medical Center.

Finger Lakes Health has appointed LEO GARRISON as its new facilities director. Garrison comes to the health system with more than 30 years’ experience in the health care and facilities field. He most recently served as director of engineering and facilities at Hartford Hospital. There, Garrison oversaw the planning and construction of a $150 million orthopaedic hospital and savings of nearly $500,000 in IT infrastructure development. He began his career working in various administrative leadership roles before serving in health-care management roles in Illinois, New York, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, Kentucky, and Connecticut. Garrison’s experience includes Mercy Hospital as VP and chief operating officer, Roswell Park Cancer Center Institute VP, Bryant and Stratton College as an adjunct professor in health-care administration, and as a regional director of facility management for Catholic health initiatives at KentuckyOne Health. Garrison graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, and proceeded to earn a master’s degree in health-care administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Onondaga County Sheriff Eugene J. Conway has formally announced that SUSAN C. DEMARI will be sworn-in as chief deputy of the Civil Department. She holds a juris doctorate from Syracuse University College of Law and is a licensed attorney who recently served as a senior attorney advisor/adjudicator for the U.S. Social Security Administration, Office of Hearings Operations. In her capacity, DeMari also served as an instructor for newly hired attorneys and as a mentor and resource for administrative law judges. She serves as a member of the board of Police Commissioners for the Town of DeWitt Police and as the security liaison/coordinator for the Jewish Federations of CNY and Buffalo. Once sworn in as chief, she will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Civil Department. Senior Correction Officer JASON EIBERT has been promoted to the rank of sergeant.
