GREENSBORO, N.C. — Syracuse men’s basketball (17-14) starts its ACC Tournament voyage when the 6th seeded Orange face the 14th seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (14-18) in the second round on Wednesday night.
The game will likely tip off at about 9:30 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina and will be televised nationally on ESPN2 and the ESPN app.
Syracuse finished its regular-season with a thud last weekend, dropping a 69-65 decision at Miami in overtime on Saturday afternoon. It was a disappointing end to an unsatisfactory regular season for the Orange. Syracuse obviously needs to win the ACC Tournament if it wants to play in the NCAA Tournament. That will require winning four games in four days.

North Carolina won three of its last four regular season games (including a 92-79 win over the Cuse on Feb. 29) for a strong finish to an otherwise disappointing season, beset by injuries, adversity, and close losses. The talented Tar Heels roared into Greensboro and dismantled 11 seed Virginia Tech, 78-56, in the opening round. Junior forward Garrison Brooks paced Carolina with 20 points, while senior guard Brandon Robinson added 17 points, including 5 three pointers.
The Orange are 2-5 in the ACC Tournament since joining the conference in the 2013-2014 season. That includes one less to North Carolina.
