Pro-business group Unshackle Upstate posted a 2013 policy agenda Jan. 4 that includes allowing shale-gas drilling in New York.
Other legislative changes the group is pushing for include reforms to the state’s workers’ compensation system and liability changes to its Scaffold Law. And Unshackle Upstate is prioritizing mandate relief.
“Over the past two years, New York state has made significant progress in rebuilding its economy, but the fight to save our state is far from over,” the organization’s executive director, Brian Sampson, said in a news release. “Our 2013 agenda clearly identifies the challenges facing Upstate families and businesses and advances realistic solutions that will help make the state a place where [all can] grow and prosper. We need to take care of the unfinished business of past sessions so New York can truly call itself the Empire State.”
