MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday afternoon that it has arrested three SUNY Morrisville students in connection with a series of burglaries at the Edward R. Andrews Elementary School at 55 Eaton St. in the village of Morrisville.
The sheriff’s office said in a news release that multiple individuals entered the school on three separate dates and stole property, mainly food items and personal effects from the desks of school staff. The incidents occurred on Oct. 28 at about 12:30 a.m., Oct. 31 at about 12:30 a.m., and Nov. 1 at about 3:10 a.m. Two individuals entered the school during the first two incidents, and three entered during the Nov. 1 break-in.
The sheriff’s office arrested Jahmar Acosta, 19, from Staten Island on Nov. 1 while he was fleeing from the burglary, according to the release. The investigation showed that Acosta was present for all three incidents and, as a result, deputies charged him with three counts of third-degree burglary, a Class D felony, and three counts of petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor.

During the evening on Nov. 1, deputies arrested Havis Wade, age 18 from Brooklyn, and also charged him with three counts each of third-degree burglary and petit larceny.
Ezekierius Varence, 18 from the Bronx, was charged with one count each of third-degree burglary and petit larceny for participating in the Nov. 1 incident.
All three are current students at SUNY Morrisville. Acosta and Wade were arraigned in Madison County CAP Court and released on their own recognizance. As of late Thursday afternoon, Varence was being held at the Madison County jail pending arraignment.
The SUNY Morrisville Police Department, Cazenovia Police Department, and New York State Police assisted the sheriff’s office with the investigation. The Morrisville-Eaton School district also assisted and cooperated with the investigation.
