ENDICOTT, N.Y. — The Agency on Thursday announced the development of a master facilities plan to guide the “modernization and revitalization” of the Huron campus in Endicott.

The organization hosted a press event on Thursday morning at 1701 North St. in Endicott. The Agency includes the Broome County Industrial Development Agency and the Local Development Corporation.

With support from the state, the plan will provide a “clear, business strategic roadmap” for site improvements, positioning the 130-acre property for new attractions, expansion, and long-term economic growth, the Agency said in its announcement.

The Huron campus, once the birthplace of IBM (now headquartered in Armonk in Westchester County), has evolved into a “dynamic hub” for advanced manufacturing, clean technology, and innovation. Today, it is home to both BAE Systems and BU CAMM, which provides incubation facilities for startups.

BU CAMM is short for the Center for Advanced Microelectronics Manufacturing (CAMM), a partnership between Binghamton University (BU), i3 Electronics, Cornell University and the Flex Tech Alliance. It is described as the nation’s first prototype research and development facility in large area flexible electronics, per the website of S3IP, a New York State Center of Excellence at Binghamton University.

Coupled with a skilled workforce and expanding educational and training opportunities, the campus is “primed for continued growth,” the Agency contended in its announcement.

The master facilities plan “builds on this momentum, serving as a “blueprint for investment and sustainable development” across high-potential sectors like the semiconductor supply chain, energy storage, and other advanced technologies.

By modernizing buildings, upgrading infrastructure, and optimizing land use, the plan will attract new employers, create jobs, and strengthen the Southern Tier’s position as a hub for innovation, continuing the campus’s legacy as a driver of economic vitality for Endicott and Broome County, the Agency contends.

“The Huron Campus has always been central to our region’s story of innovation, and this Master Facilities Plan ensures it will remain central to our future as well,” Stacey Duncan, executive director of The Agency, said in the announcement. “By investing in modernization and aligning with the needs of today’s high-growth industries, we’re creating the foundation for new business opportunities, quality jobs, and long-term prosperity for Broome County. This partnership reflects the power of public and private collaboration to drive transformational change.”
