SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse University has announced that it will play Western Michigan University in football in 2018 and 2019.
Western Michigan will host the Orange at Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Sept. 1, 2018 in the season opener for both teams. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two FBS programs. The Orange will then welcome the Broncos to Syracuse on Sept. 21, 2019.
Syracuse University also announced that the Orange’s 2019 road game at Maryland, previously scheduled for Sept. 21, has been moved to Sept. 7 to accommodate the Western Michigan game.

Western Michigan in 2017 is entering its first season under new head coach Tim Lester, who previously served as Orange offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and recruiting coordinator. He spent three seasons on the Hill.
The addition of the Western Michigan game completes Syracuse’s list of non-conference football opponents for 2019, the university said in a news release. The Orange have one non-conference slot remaining on their 2018 schedule. Non-conference game dates and opponents for the 2018 and 2019 seasons are as follows:

Nov. 17 at Notre Dame
2019
Aug. 31 at Liberty
Sept. 7 at Maryland
Sept. 21 vs. Western Michigan

Syracuse University also recently announced a three-year football scheduling agreement with Liberty University for 2019, 2020, and 2021.
