The NCAA today at Noon announced that it will not ban the Syracuse University men’s basketball team from next year’s post season.
The decision was part of the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions’ report on its findings of a lengthy investigation into SU’s athletics program.
SU announced on Feb. 4 that it had self-imposed a post-season ban on the men’s basketball team for this season in response to the NCAA investigation.

The NCAA’s panel accepted the university’s one-year postseason ban.
However, the NCAA imposed a wide range of penalties on Syracuse today, including:
“Penalties in this case … include five years of probation; financial penalties; reduction of three men’s basketball scholarships per year for four years; vacation of wins in which ineligible students participated; a nine conference game suspension for the head basketball coach; and men’s basketball recruiting restrictions for two years,” according to a news release from the NCAA.
