SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse Hancock International Airport has secured nearly $11 million in federal funding for renovation projects at the facility.
The funding comes from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the office of U.S. Representative John Katko (R–Camillus) announced Thursday.
“Today, I’m pleased to announce $11 million in federal funding will be made available for renovation and safety projects at the Syracuse Hancock International Airport,” Katko said. “Syracuse Hancock International Airport is a significant economic driver and travel hub for our entire region. These vital funds will greatly contribute to … ensuring the Airport continues to be an important gateway for travelers and businesses alike.”

The FAA in mid-April also awarded the Syracuse airport $12.9 million to cover expenses related to preventing and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. That funding also came from the CARES Act.
