SYRACUSE — St. Joseph’s Physicians plans to close both locations of The Women’s Place, a medical practice focused on gynecological services for women.
The locations at North Medical Center in Clay and Northeast Medical Center in Fayetteville will close on March 31, Betsy Bedigian, spokesperson for St. Joseph’s Physicians, confirmed to CNYBJ.com.
St. Joseph’s Physicians is an affiliate of St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center in Syracuse.

Why Now Is the Time To Start Planning for Your Company’s Business Succession
You’ve built a great business, and you love what you do. Retirement is a long way off, so why worry about how you’ll transition the ownership of your company down
The move to close the offices is “part of a business decision,” Bedigian says.
“We are optimizing the resources that are already part of the St. Joseph’s Hospital [Health Center] system,” she added.
The Women’s Place is notifying its patients about the pending office closure and helping them determine if they want to remain with their current doctor or seek another provider option within the St. Joseph’s system, Bedigian says.
Six physicians provided services between the offices, she says. One physician is retiring, and another is “going to do something different” in integrated medicine, Bedigian says.
A few of the remaining doctors plan to open offices or join other medical practices elsewhere in the Syracuse area, she adds.
Bedigian wasn’t able to say how many employees will be affected beyond the physicians.
The St. Joseph’s Physicians practices have offered the non-medical staff, including nurses and front-office employees, positions in other offices, Bedigian says.
