UTICA, N.Y. — St. Elizabeth College of Nursing (SECON) has started a new program, called Education to Employment, for incoming nursing students where nursing course tuition is paid and employment at Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) after graduation is guaranteed.
“There is a national shortage of nurses causing an immediate need to provide quality education to prospective students,” SECON President Varinya Sheppard said in a news release announcing the program. “We are excited to offer this new program to our students with the hope that it helps making choosing a profession in nursing not only a rewarding career choice, but an affordable one.”
SECON (www.secon.edu) offers multiple curriculum plans including a weekday program, an evening/weekend program, and the SUNY Polytechnic Institute/SECON Dual Degree Partnership in Nursing, which allows students to earn an associate degree from SECON and a bachelor’s degree from SUNY in four years.
