SYRACUSE — Rural/Metro Medical Services recently announced the addition of two new ambulances to its fleet of emergency vehicles in Syracuse.
The new vehicles represent a capital investment of more than $250,000 as they are placed into service, Rural/Metro said in a news release.
Van Wert, Ohio–based Braun Industries, Inc. “custom manufactured” the two new ambulances, identified as vehicles 37 and 40, for Syracuse’s emergency-medical needs, Rural/Metro said.

The new vehicles are part of an “ongoing” fleet-upgrade program for Rural/Metro’s Syracuse operation, according to the ambulance-service provider.
Over the last two years, the firm has added 20 new ambulances to the Syracuse fleet, the company added.
Rural/Metro Medical Services operates throughout a six county local region. The agency has been part of the region’s healthcare-delivery system since 1953, the company said.
With a current staff of more than 300, it responds to over 65,000 calls for help each year throughout Central New York, Rural/Metro said.
Scottsdale, Ariz.–based Rural/Metro Corp. on Aug. 4 filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The bankruptcy filing will have no impact on Rural/Metro’s service in Central New York, Melissa Fleischmann, market-development manager for Rural/Metro Medical Services in Syracuse, said at the time.
