People news: NBT Bank promotes Armstrong to VP

CORTLAND, N.Y. — NBT Bank announced that it has promoted Jeffrey Armstrong, market manager, to VP.

Armstrong is responsible for managing sales and performance of the bank’s six branches in the Cortland area. He is based in NBT Bank’s Cortland Main Street office, NBT said in a news release.

Armstrong has 30 years of experience in the financial-services industry. He joined NBT Bank in 2013 following the bank’s acquisition of Alliance Bank, where he held positions as market manager, branch manager, and commercial-loan officer. Prior to that, he worked in retail banking at the First National Bank of Cortland.

A resident of Cortland, Armstrong earned his associate degree from Tompkins County Community College. He is a graduate of the New York Bankers Association Consumer Credit School and earned his certificate in general banking, consumer lending, and commercial lending from the American Institute of Banking.

NBT Bank has 155 branches in six states including New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. NBT Bank and its parent company, NBT Bancorp (NASDAQ: NBTB), are headquartered in Norwich. NBT Bancorp had assets of $8.3 billion as of Dec. 31, 2015.
