OSWEGO, N.Y. — The child and family services department at Oswego Health is raising funding to renovate its mental health and wellness facility.
The fundraising has included donations from local businesses and an employee-giving program to help pay for renovations that Oswego Health contends are “so desperately needed” to the mental health and wellness facility.
The Oswego Health Foundation raised a total of $80,500 to support the clinic’s renovation. The work will include the expansion of the nursing supervisor’s office, alteration of the check-in window to allow better visualization of the lobby to enhance security, new flooring, painting, and the installation of a public-address system with music in some areas with the addition of white noise for the element of privacy.

Besides the contribution from the Oswego Health Foundation, Brookfield Renewable U.S. donated $10,000 to the project.
“Brookfield proudly makes significant efforts to play an active role in our host communities,” Mark Luciano, stakeholder-relations manager, said in a news release. “Providing valuable child and family services is a mission that is vital to Oswego County, we are very pleased that our donation will help support the clinic renovation project.”
Besides Brookfield Renewable U.S., organizations supporting the effort include Stewart’s Shops, Richard S. Shineman Foundation, and the Oswego Health Employee Giving Campaign, Oswego Health said.
“Collaboration is essential to our mission and we can’t thank our local business community and our employees enough for their commitment to caring and for their support of the mental health needs of children in our community,” Margaret Barclay, executive director of the Oswego Health Foundation, said.
Located at 98 N. Second St. in Fulton, the child and family services department includes child/adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, and nurses who work closely with families, empowering them to successfully support their children, both during and after treatment.
In 2022, the child and family services department supported 984 children, including 18,832 visits, Oswego Health said.
