DeWITT, N.Y. — Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. announced it plans to relocate its 100-employee Syracuse–area office to another local site.
The move will result in 14 job cuts, with the rest of the jobs shifted to other company offices.
“In total, 14 of the 100 positions currently held in Syracuse are being eliminated,” the company said in a statement.

Osmose, whose current Syracuse–area office is at 5703 Enterprise Parkway in DeWitt, provides inspection, maintenance, and other services for utilities and the telecommunications industry across North America. The local office is slated to close on April 30, the company said in a state filing.
“In April, Osmose will relocate its software development team to a new office location in Syracuse. The current Syracuse office of 100 employees is comprised of software development, project delivery, and engineering delivery positions. While the software development team will remain in Syracuse (at a new location), the majority of the project delivery and engineering team members are being offered the option to relocate to Buffalo, N.Y., or Atlanta, Ga., or work remotely from home,” the company said in its statement.
“These changes are part of an overall effort to combine, align, and optimize business functions,” Osmose added.
Buffalo is where Osmose was founded in 1934. The company’s current headquarters are in Peachtree City, Ga., just outside Atlanta. In addition to those three offices, the company has a site in Kailua, Hawaii.
