SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Onondaga County on Tuesday afternoon reported that the number of people currently in the hospital with COVID-19 fell to 34, the lowest level since Nov. 3.
The number of those hospitalized was down from 38 on Monday and 53 a couple weeks ago. The county’s hospitals have steadily been reporting more discharges of COVID-19 patients than new admissions for about three months now. The number of people hospitalized with complications from the coronavirus peaked at 336 on Dec. 28.

The county reported one death on Tuesday — a 70-year-old male.

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon also tweeted that the county had 68 new coronavirus cases in the last day, with 73 percent of those being people under age 40 and 87 percent under age 50. He added that five of the infections were travel-related. The number of active cases edged up to 337 from 314 in the last day.
