UTICA, N.Y. — Oneida County reported 31 new COVID-19 infections in its weekend updates, including 25 new cases on Saturday, bring the current case total to 1,886 as of Sunday afternoon.
It also reported one “COVID-19-related” death in its Sunday update, bringing the death toll to 111.
In its Saturday update, Oneida County said the 25 new cases are the direct result of the New York State Department of Health testing event that was held in Utica on July 15. This increase is expected to continue to be reflected in the new positive cases “over the next couple of days.” The 25 new cases include eight nursing-home residents.

The Sunday update indicated 14 patients recovering in Oneida County hospitals, including 12 in the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) and two in Rome Memorial Hospital (RMH).
Two people are recovering in hospitals outside Oneida County.
Of those hospitalized in Oneida County, seven are nursing-home residents receiving acute care, including five in MVHS and two in RMH.
Oneida County’s Sunday report also indicates that the county has 201 active positive cases and that 1,574 positive cases have been resolved.
In addition, health-care workers have conducted 64,406 tests, with 62,520 negative results.
The quarantine numbers aren’t available because the Oneida County Health Department is in the process of transitioning from an internal tracking system to a New York State reporting system, Oneida County said.
The quarantine numbers will be updated retroactively when transition is finalized, Oneida County said.
