UTICA, N.Y. — The Oneida County Board of Legislators is considering a 2021 county budget proposal that doesn’t include an increase in property taxes “despite the economic devastation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
That’s according to the office of Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, Jr., who presented the spending plan to the board of legislators on Nov. 12.
The $434.1 million proposal includes a balanced budget that decreases discretionary spending by 7 percent. It also includes no employee layoffs and adds no new positions, his office said.

The spending plan also budgets $105.4 million in sales-tax revenue and $16 million in Oneida Nation revenue. It also retires $9.1 million in debt.
The budget’s capital plan calls for only a “minimal amount” of county bond issuance to pay for roads and bridges and necessary technology upgrades, according to Picente’s office.
The Oneida County Board of Legislators will vote on Picente’s 2021 budget proposal at its meeting on Dec. 2.
