ITHACA — ICS, an information-technology (IT) support firm, has settled into its third office, a 1,000-square-foot space located at 840 Hanshaw Road in the village of Cayuga Heights, near Ithaca.
The firm has operated at that location since Jan. 1, but was scheduled to have a formal-opening event on June 15.
ICS also operates offices in Endicott and in DeWitt.
ICS has worked in the Ithaca area “over the years,” says Kevin Blake, company president and CEO. “We started seeing opportunity and we decided to make the investment in that market,” says Blake.
Blake, who is the firm’s majority owner, spoke with CNYBJ on June 7. Travis Hayes is the firm’s minority owner, according to Blake.
ICS is leasing its space from Asthma & Allergy Associates P.C., which Blake described as a “long-term customer” in the Ithaca area.
“I like to do business with people that do business with me,” says Blake.
ICS handled its own preparation work on the space, an effort that included new paint and carpet.
ICS has just over 80 employees, including three full-time workers in the Ithaca–area office. “We plan on growing that location,” says Blake.
The firm has plans to hire about three people before the end of the year.
Established in 1986, ICS offers technology-management services to clients in various industries in New York and Pennsylvania.
The firm services about 500 customers, which includes “roughly a couple hundred” managed clients for which ICS is managing every aspect of their technology.
“We’re responsible to keep the network up, the data safe, protect it, backed up, [and] keep them secure. So we take on that risk,” says Blake.
ICS is currently servicing between 10 and 15 clients in the Ithaca region, including 10 managed clients, he added.
Blake declined to disclose specific annual revenue figures, but noted that ICS generates 15 percent of its annual revenue from customers in northeast Pennsylvania in communities such as Gowanda, Sayre, and Montrose.
Blake also indicates that ICS is looking at both Elmira and Oneonta as its next areas for company expansion.
