The Syracuse University women’s soccer program has added KELLY MADSEN as an assistant coach. Madsen comes to the Orange from Rice University, where she was an assistant coach under head coach Nicky Adams, who is now head coach at Syracuse. Madsen started at Rice in February 2018, assisting in all areas of the program and serving as the recruiting coordinator. Prior to working with Adams at Rice, she spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Stephen F. Austin (SFA). Madsen was part of the 2012 coaching staff that helped lead SFA to an NCAA Tournament bid. Before her time at SFA, Madsen served two years as an assistant coach at the University of Dubuque in Iowa. Madsen assisted in all areas of the program, including recruiting, scouting of opponents and daily training. A native of Pensacola, Florida, Madsen starred as a midfielder at the University of South Alabama from 2004-08. She scored 22 goals and added 20 assists in her collegiate career. Later, she played professionally in England and in Canada. Madsen obtained her bachelor’s degree in communications from South Alabama in 2008 and her master’s degree in communications from Dubuque in 2011.
