The Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University recently appointed DIANE CRAWFORD to the newly created position of executive director for institutional culture. She most recently served as president of Diversity & Inclusion Professionals of Central Pennsylvania, providing professional development and networking for diversity and inclusion practitioners throughout the region. Her previous roles include diversity & inclusion global manager for the Hershey Company, where her responsibilities included establishing Hershey’s first employee business resource groups: Women, LGBTQ, African American, Latino, Asian American, Veterans, Abilities First, and Young Professional. While at Hershey, Crawford was also responsible for developing community partnerships between the company and nationwide community organizations. In addition, she has served as a career advisor for a unique skills-to-work program under the Harrisburg Area Community College Workforce Development Department. Crawford holds a bachelor’s degree in applied behavioral science and a master’s degree in education, both from Penn State University.

HCR Home Care has added four new home health aides to its Onondaga County operations: COURTNEY EVERSON, NICHOLE FONVILLE, NETTIE BREWER, and STACEY CAPENOS. 

The partners of the law firm of Hinman, Howard & Kattell, LLP have re-elected JAMES W. ORBAND as managing partner for a new five-year term. A 1981 graduate of Binghamton University, he received his law degree from Albany Law School of Union University in 1984. Orband joined Hinman, Howard & Kattell, LLP in 1984 and became a partner in 1991 and has served as the firm’s managing partner since 1999. His new term will run through 2023.He maintains an active legal practice, focusing in the areas of banking and financial services, business and securities law, construction law, and estate and trust planning and administration. A native of the Southern Tier, Orband serves as a director of Security Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York and Southern Tier High Technology Incubator, Inc. He is a member of the New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida Bar Associations and previously served as chair of both the New York State Bar Association Business Law Section and its Banking Law Committee. 

JAMES DYLAN FURNEY has joined Cushman Wakefield/Pyramid Brokerage Company’s Utica office, and JESSICA LAVELLE has joined its Syracuse office, each as a commercial real-estate salesperson. Furney is a graduate of SUNY Oswego, holding a bachelor’s degree in business with a minor in communications, and Lavelle is a graduate of SUNY Cortland, holding a bachelor’s degree in communications. Both will focus on the acquisition, disposition, and re-development of retail properties.

The Syracuse University women’s soccer program has added KELLY MADSEN as an assistant coach. Madsen comes to the Orange from Rice University, where she was an assistant coach under head coach Nicky Adams, who is now head coach at Syracuse. Madsen started at Rice in February 2018, assisting in all areas of the program and serving as the recruiting coordinator. Prior to working with Adams at Rice, she spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Stephen F. Austin (SFA). Madsen was part of the 2012 coaching staff that helped lead SFA to an NCAA Tournament bid. Before her time at SFA, Madsen served two years as an assistant coach at the University of Dubuque in Iowa. Madsen assisted in all areas of the program, including recruiting, scouting of opponents and daily training. A native of Pensacola, Florida, Madsen starred as a midfielder at the University of South Alabama from 2004-08. She scored 22 goals and added 20 assists in her collegiate career. Later, she played professionally in England and in Canada. Madsen obtained her bachelor’s degree in communications from South Alabama in 2008 and her master’s degree in communications from Dubuque in 2011.
