“Oneida County is proud to host and support this initiative that reflects our strong commitment to both national security and regional innovation,” Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, Jr. said in the announcement. “The NYANG Showcase brings together service, education and economic development in a way that empowers individuals and strengthens our entire community.”
The open house will include career and service exploration with Air and Army National Guard, active duty and reserve units. It will also have military aircraft displays including the LC-130, HC-130, B-52, and MQ-9.
The event will also include STEM exhibits and demonstrations from regional education and tech partners, along with opportunities to connect with innovative companies and workforce-development programs.
“We are honored to open the hangars and hearts to the public for this event,” Major General Michael Bank, commander of the New York Air National Guard, said. “The Showcase is an opportunity to not only introduce our airmen, aircraft and capabilities to our friends and neighbors, but to share what service means today, especially in science, engineering, and technology domains critical to our nation’s defense.”
The NYANG Showcase will also serve as a platform for local organizations and businesses to exhibit how they contribute to the region’s innovation ecosystem and national defense mission.
“Events like the NYANG Showcase reflect how Griffiss Institute’s commitment to public-private partnerships in the national security sector bring economic momentum to our region and upward mobility to our residents,” Heather Hage, president and CEO of Griffiss Institute, said. “By connecting students, families and professionals with opportunities in STEM and national defense, we’re helping to grow a workforce rooted in both purpose and possibility. It’s about building a future where young people see a clear path forward to service, and know they can take that first step from STEM to sky right here in our community.”
