ENDICOTT, N.Y. — Mercy House of the Southern Tier will use a $100,000 grant for an admissions navigator.
New York City–based Mother Cabrini Health Foundation awarded the grant funding.
The money has allowed Mercy House to hire a registered nurse to work in the community, meet with palliative teams at hospitals, provide informational in-home visits, and help in raising awareness of Mercy House as a community-care shelter for the terminally ill, the organization said in a release.

The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation says it is a private, nonprofit organization with the mission to improve the health and well-being of the vulnerable New Yorkers, bolster the health outcomes of targeted communities, eliminate barriers to care, and bridge gaps in health services.
The foundation — which is named in memory of a “tireless advocate” for immigrants, children, and the poor — provides flexible support for new and innovative approaches that enhance health and wellness across New York state.
