The Reading League (TRL), based in Syracuse, has named Marisa Ramirez Stukey, Ph.D., its new chief academic officer. A nationally recognized expert in literacy, professional learning and systems change, Stukey oversees TRL’s academic initiatives, including professional-development programming, content development, and national partnerships to support teacher preparation and practice aligned with the science of reading. As chief academic officer, Stukey brings more than two decades of experience as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, higher-education instructor, and national consultant. She holds a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on teacher education and professional learning and a master’s degree in reading education from the University of Florida. Stukey is also a national board-certified teacher. She co-authored “Professional Learning Redesigned: An Evidence-Based Guide.”
