SALINA, N.Y. — Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT) announced it plans to shift jobs to its plant in Salina as part of a consolidation in one of its business units.
“In our ongoing effort to drive down costs for customers and increase efficiency and value, we are consolidating some operations in our Rotary and Mission Systems business to better align employees, technology and facilities to meet customer needs,” a Lockheed Martin spokesperson said in an email to CNYBJ. “Lockheed Martin announced that several maritime programs will relocate to other Rotary and Mission Systems facilities, including Syracuse.”
Local media reports in the affected markets had indicated that the Bethesda, Maryland–based defense contractor had plans to close two of its plants in that process, including facilities in Middle River, Maryland and Marion, Massachusetts.
