ITHACA — Ithaca Carshare celebrated its move to a new downtown location in Dewitt Mall this month with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Ithaca Carshare, with a fleet of 21 vehicles and more than 1,300 members, also celebrated having the highest usage rate in any city outside of Europe with 2.6 percent of people in the area using the nonprofit service.
Ithaca Carshare moved to its new location to focus on serving downtown families and neighborhoods, fulfilling its mission to increase access to transportation while reducing its economic and environmental impacts, according to the group.

Members of Ithaca Carshare have self-serve access to the vehicles, which are available at locations around the city. Member reports indicate each carshare vehicle replaces more than 15 privately owned cars, helping remove an estimated 320 vehicles from Ithaca’s roads.
