SYRACUSE, N.Y. — HealtheConnections, which operates one of the state’s eight regional health-information exchanges (HIE), has moved to a new office in Franklin Center at 443 N. Franklin St. in Syracuse.
It previously operated in the State Tower Building at 109 S. Warren St. in Syracuse.
HealtheConnections — which describes itself as a regional health-information technology and population-health improvement organization — relocated to allow more space to grow, according to a news release.

HealtheConnections currently has 40 employees. Launched in 2010, president and CEO Rob Hack was the organization’s first employee.
As an “anchor tenant” in Franklin Center, the nonprofit occupies a renovated factory that was originally built in 1903 for the Clinton Knitting Company on lands referred to as the “old Salt Flats.”
As a regional HIE, HealtheConnections works with health, health-care delivery, and support organizations throughout 11 counties in Central and Northern New York. It seeks to provide medical professionals with patient medical records and resources for “improved” patient care, “resulting in better health and care for the public.”
The 800 participating organizations include “all area hospitals,” the organization said. HealtheConnections also noted that 75 percent of the region’s providers use HIE services and 65 percent are contributing patient-health records.
HealtheConnections is accredited through the New York State Department of Health as a “qualified member” of the State Health Information Network of New York (SHIN-NY).
The SHIN-NY is a “network of networks” that links New York’s eight regional “qualified entities” (QEs) throughout the state, according to the website of the New York City–based New York eHealth Collaborative.
