ITHACA, N.Y. — Guthrie says it is expanding OB/GYN services into Ithaca with certified midwives from its Cortland clinic also seeing patients at Guthrie Ithaca City Harbor, “effective immediately.”
In the fall of 2022, Sayre, Pennsylvania–based Guthrie opened an OB/GYN Clinic in Cortland. “It quickly became apparent” that as the patient load increased, women from Tompkins County were among those seeking care, per its announcement.
“One of Guthrie’s priorities is to find gaps in health care coverage and fill them,” J. Manuel Arreguin, obstetrics and gynecology chair at the Guthrie Clinic, noted in a news release. “Our ongoing assessments confirmed that women in Ithaca and Tompkins County were searching for additional options for care, close to home, so we took quick action to open an office in Ithaca to meet our patients where they are.”
