Goddard leaving Air Force lab in Rome; Hunter named acting director

Daniel Goddard

ROME, N.Y. — The Air Force announced that Daniel S. Goddard, director of the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate, departs his position Friday.

“It has been my distinct privilege, honor, and pleasure to serve as the director at the Information Directorate here in Rome. The women and men of the Information Directorate are truly amazing and work every day to advance the security of our nation,” Goddard, who became director in May 2016, said in a news release.

He continued, “I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Air Force Research Laboratory Rome team and collaborating with local, county and state representatives of New York. My time here has been wonderful and my wife and I will greatly miss it. Rome is a wonderful place to be with the beautiful seasons and abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities, but, after much discussion, my wife Cori and I have decided it is time to begin a new chapter in our lives, so I will be moving on to a new opportunity.”

AFRL has begun the process to select a permanent replacement. Lt. Col. Tracy Hunter will assume the role of acting director in the meantime, the Air Force said.
