CICERO — Gander Mountain, which say it’s the nation’s largest retail network of outdoor specialty stores, recently completed a major remodeling of its Cicero store.
The store, located at 5864 Carmenica Drive, held a three-day grand opening this past weekend (Nov. 8-10), according to a news release from Gander Mountain.
The newly revamped store includes one of Gander Mountain’s Firearms Super Centers. The Cicero location now offers one of the largest selections of new and used firearms in New York state, Gander Mountain contends.

Keeping Your Firm Secure on the Road to Digitization
By Dan Hernborg Sales Engineer With the looming threat of a potential recession and economic downturn, many professional service firms are looking to reduce costs and increase efficiency in preparation.
“Our new Firearms Super Centers have been very well received across the country, and we look forward to bringing that concept to many more stores in our network,” David Pratt, Gander Mountain’s chairman and CEO, said in the news release. “Through these major remodeling projects, we’re giving our loyal patrons and our newest fans an even better place to get the best gear at the best prices.”
The Cicero store is among 29 locations nationwide that are part of Gander Mountain’s extensive remodeling plans in 2013. The privately held company says the efforts are intended to expand customer selection and provide an attractive new look.
The major remodeling of the 65,500-square-foot Gander Mountain store in Cicero lasted about four months. The store remained open for customers with much of the work completed outside business hours, according to the news release. The Cicero store first opened in 2004.
Jess Myers, a spokesperson for Gander Mountain, declined to disclose the cost of the renovations at the Cicero store, saying only that it was a “considerable investment.” He also declined to name the construction contractors the retailer used on the project.
St. Paul, Minn.–based Gander Mountain offers gear and accessories for hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and archery, as well as outdoor and casual apparel and footwear.
In addition to its remodeling projects, Gander Mountain says it is in the midst of a sizeable expansion. In the past 18 months, new Gander Mountain stores have opened in Alabama (3), Georgia, Indiana, Minnesota, North Carolina (4), Texas (4), and Virginia. Three more new stores will open in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia in the coming weeks, according to the release. That will bring Gander Mountain’s store total to 131 by year’s end.
