NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. — New York State Police in North Syracuse announced they arrested a Fulton man on Saturday for robbing three separate Syracuse–area stores in a span of just over four hours.
David J. Pastorell, age 58, was charged with 2nd degree and 3rd degree robbery, both felonies, for the first pair of heists.
State Police say that on Saturday at 7:10 a.m., Pastorell entered the TOPS gas station on Brewerton Road in the town of Clay and “forcibly” stole $90 from the cashier. He then left the scene in a black Chevrolet Malibu.

For his second robbery, Pastorell at 10:45 a.m., entered the Burger King restaurant on Thompson Road in the town of DeWitt, demanding money from the cashier. Following a “brief struggle with the cashier, Pastorell lunged over the counter and grabbed the cash drawer and left,” the State Police said in a news release. The cashier, a woman, was treated at the scene for a wrist injury.
Pastorell is accused of then committing a third robbery at the Sunoco gas station/convenience store on East Taft Road in the town of Cicero, which the Village of North Syracuse Police Department investigated. Pastorell was identified and arrested by North Syracuse Police in conjunction with the State Police investigation. He was charged with 3rd degree robbery and 4th degree criminal mischief. This is the second time Pastorell has been arrested by North Syracuse Police Department for 3rd degree robbery, per the release. His first arrest came in November 2018 for a similar robbery of a 7-11 store.
For his latest alleged crimes, Pastorell was arrested at about 1 p.m. on Saturday in the city of Syracuse after being spotted on 1st North Street by an Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputy. Pastorell emerged from a nearby residence and surrendered himself to state troopers and sheriff’s deputies “without incident.” He was taken to the State Police barracks in North Syracuse for arrest processing and transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center for centralized arraignment.
