SCRIBA, N.Y. — Fire crews from across Oswego County responded to another fire at the Oswego operations of Novelis in the town of Scriba.

Atlanta, Georgia–based Novelis is producer of flat-rolled aluminum products and the world’s largest recycler of aluminum.

On its website, the company said, “A fire started at Novelis’ Oswego, New York, plant this morning. Everyone working at the plant was safely evacuated. Multiple local fire departments responded, and the fire is now under control. Crews are still on site to ensure it is fully extinguished.”

The company also provided a Nov. 11 website update about its recovery progress since the September fire. “Novelis is making substantial progress in the recovery and rebuilding of the Oswego plant’s hot mill. We remain on track to restart the hot mill by the end of December 2025.”

The Novelis plant supplies Ford’s F.N lucrative F-150 truck line, and following the September fire, Ford in October cut its profit forecast, citing a gross hit of up to $2 billion from the incident, per a Reuters article on the website of USA Today.
