HAMILTON, N.Y. — Community Memorial Hospital has received a renewal of its accreditation from The Joint Commission, demonstrating continuous compliance with performance standards.
The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health-care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.
“To be awarded The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval is a proud achievement and a testament to our continued commitment to patient safety and quality standards,” Community Memorial Hospital President/CEO Jeff Coakley said in a news release. “Our health-care team ensures survey readiness every day by integrating the high standards and metrics set forth by The Joint Commission.”

The hospital underwent an onsite review during the three-day survey where reviewers evaluated compliance with clinical and safety standards including emergency management, the environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management of the health system and its primary care offices in Cazenovia and Munnsville.
“From the clinical staff to the administrative team, our employee teamwork and dedication have made this success possible,” Heather Bernard, chief nursing officer and VP of clinical services, said. “This achievement is not just a reflection of our adherence to standards but also a celebration of the compassionate care and excellence we provide to every patient.”
The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health-care providers, measurement experts, and patients and are designed to help health-care organizations measure, assess, and improve performance.

Community Memorial Hospital is a critical-access hospital in Hamilton that serves Madison and Oneida counties, as well as parts of Chenango and Onondaga counties.
