The three winning regions’ regional economic development councils (or REDCs) will each receive $500 million in state funding for projects seeking to boost economic and job growth. They will each receive installments of about $100 million per year for five years.
The five regions that lost out in the contest, which some have dubbed Upstate’s “Hunger Games,” were the Capital District, Mid-Hudson, Mohawk Valley, North Country, and Western New York.
