SYRACUSE, N.Y.— The City of Syracuse Department of Parks & Recreation says the public-bidding process for the rehabilitation of the Hanover Square fountain is open.
The city is seeking qualified construction firms to complete structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs, as well as landscaping on, and around, the iconic fountain.

The Hanover Square fountain was originally designed and constructed in the early 1980s to introduce a new public plaza for events and gatherings in downtown Syracuse. Over the years, continued exposure to Central New York weather impacted the structural integrity of the fountain’s original brick terraced cladding, the department said.
The fountain was taken out of commission in 2022 while a complete systems assessment and design was conducted by QPK Design, LLP.
