Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Central New York’s largest health insurer, has promoted its director of clinical services, strategy, and policy to vice president of pharmacy management.
Mona Chitre now holds the vice president title. The new position puts her in charge of overseeing the Rochester–based health insurer’s pharmacy program — a program that spends $1 billion per year on its members’ prescription medicines. Chitre’s other duties in the new role include clinical program development, employer group support, formulary and medical management, and vendor management.
She holds a doctorate in pharmacy from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Chitre has worked for Excellus for over 12 years.
