The U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday projected that the total United States population would be 315,091,138 on Jan. 1, 2013. That’s up by 2.27 million, or 0.73 percent, from one year ago.
The Census Bureau says the U.S. population has increased by 6.34 million, or 2.05 percent, since April 1, 2010, the most recent Census Day.
New York remains the third most populous state in the nation with 19.6 million people, as of July 1, 2012. Florida is not far behind with 19.3 million.
