BINGHAMTON — As many private business owners near retirement age, they face the increasingly thorny issue of what to do with their business so they can step away.
On Feb. 27, the Binghamton University School of Management, in partnership with area experts, is offering an all-day seminar on transition planning for closely held businesses. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Binghamton University Downtown Center at 67 Washington St. in Binghamton.
The seminar will address topics such as the need to plan, an overview of succession and exit-planning options, leadership development, accounting and tax issues, buy-sell agreements and business valuations, a business sale to a third party, and strategies for wealth management, life insurance, and estate planning.
