ITHACA — Alternatives Federal Credit Union will host author Michael Shuman as the featured speaker for its annual meeting June 5.
The meeting, open to the public, will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca. Shulman is a fellow at the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE), Cutting Edge Capital, and Post-Carbon Institute. He has written, co-written, or edited eight books. His most recent is Local Dollars, Local Sense: How to Move Your Money from Wall Street to Main Street and Achieve Real Prosperity.
Ithaca–based Alternatives has total assets of more than $77.7 million and more than 9,400 members. It is a community development financial institution, dedicated to building wealth and creating economic opportunity for underserved people and communities.
