SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A Syracuse man who used to work at the Avis Budget Car Rental location at Syracuse Hancock International Airport is accused by police of stealing 47 rental vehicles valued at more than $1 million this summer, the airport announced Friday morning, Oct. 24.

The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority Police Department alleges that Milton W. Thompson III, a 31-year-old former employee of Avis and resident of Syracuse, stole the vehicles between June and August and then fraudulently rented them out to people across Onondaga County.

As of Friday morning, police were looking for Thompson and seeking the public’s help. He was wanted for grand larceny in the second degree and scheme to defraud in the first degree, both felonies.
