BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — A mystery/horror film primarily shot in the Binghamton area in February 2021 released in limited theaters and on video-on-demand services on Thursday.
Filmmaker Andy Mitton filmed “The Harbinger” using the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton as well as the Goodwill Theatre and Firehouse Stage in Johnson City.
While the story is set in New York City, most filming was done using the qualified production facility at the arena and employing local crew.

XYZ Films picked the film up for distribution, and it first premiered at Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival. “The Harbinger” is a follow-up to Mitton’s 2018 film “The Witch in the Window.”
“We had a great time working with the Harbinger team, and from the trailer, we can see that they created a very cool film in our space,” Goodwill Theatre CEO Naima Kradjian said in a news release. “We are proud to be a part of it.”
Louis Newman, of the Visit Binghamton Film Office, said the state’s film incentives have increased production in upstate New York.
“The Binghamton Film Office is available to assist productions throughout the process of filming for everything from finding locations, to permitting processes, and hiring local,” he added.
