SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse police are advising those planning to attend Saturday’s Syracuse Orange football home opener with Connecticut to arrive early to reduce traffic and wait times.

Parking lots will open at 8 a.m. Gates to enter the JMA Wireless Dome will open at 10:30 a.m., and kickoff is set for 12 p.m.

“Please be aware of permanent road closures and significant changes to traffic patterns around the JMA Wireless Dome due to the ongoing I-81 Viaduct Project. Detours and new traffic configurations are in place, and familiar routes may no longer be accessible,” per Friday’s statement from the Syracuse Police Department.

Parking passes

The Dome is transitioning to mobile parking passes for select lots this season. Police advise those affected to download their yellow or purple digital parking pass in advance and add it to their mobile wallet. Fans should have their pass ready to scan on their mobile device before arriving at their lot to “ensure efficient entry and prevent traffic delays.”

Those with a parking pass for the Dome West Lots should display their green paper parking pass by hanging it from their rearview mirror before arriving at the lots. Police advise visiting cuse.com/dome for GPS directions to their specific parking lot.

Construction and routing information

University parking lots near the Dome are sold out. Those who have not pre-purchased parking should use the Skytop Lot via Route 81, Exit 17.

Police also encourage everyone driving to the game to download the Waze app for directions. They also encourage those parking in the SkyTop lot to use the address for the lot: 640 Skytop Road.

Due to ongoing construction, University Avenue Garage and campus parking permit holders are asked to avoid using I-81, Exit 18. Police strongly advise using Interstate 690 and taking the Teall Avenue exit (Exit 14) to Erie Boulevard, then making a left turn onto Walnut Avenue, to access these lots.

For all rideshare users attending Dome events, use the designated rideshare zones for pickup and drop-off. These zones are located at Newhouse Circle, at the corner of Waverly and South Crouse, and near Bird Library on Waverly Avenue. Signage will be placed around the outside of the arena to guide fans to these locations.

After the game, guests should exit through Gate N to easily access the rideshare zones, police say.
