The NYS Association of Family and Consumer Science Educators is proud to announce that Mary M. Gohl-Thompson, CEO of the Home Builders & Remodelers of Central New York, has been named the recipient of the NY State Ellen Swallow Richards Award. This honor follows Gohl-Thompson’s recognition as the Regional Award winner for the 2024 school year. Local award recipients are nominated annually by their regions, with state-level winners selected and recognized at the State Conference.
Gohl-Thompson was chosen for her leadership in promoting careers in the residential construction industry and her efforts to build connections between local school districts, colleges, universities, and businesses. “The building trades offer a great career path,” said Gohl-Thompson. “As the housing market continues to strengthen, we are seeking skilled workers. I am humbled and honored to receive this award for helping to promote workforce opportunities in the residential construction industry.”
