GRANBY, N.Y. — An employee of Butler Disposal Systems, the largest trash hauler in Oswego County, was killed on the job Monday afternoon, Aug. 11, in the town of Granby when a car struck him as he was walking back to his garbage truck.
The New York State Police announced that at 4:21 p.m. Monday, they responded to a report of a motor-vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on County Route 14 in Granby. Their preliminary investigation determined that a Butler Disposal garbage truck was stopped with its hazard lights activated, facing southbound on the west shoulder of the roadway.
The Butler employee, Alexander M. Snow, age 32, of Phoenix, had been on the east side of the roadway and was crossing west to return to his truck with a rolling container when he was struck by a southbound 2013 Chevrolet Cruze operated by Kyle J. Parker, age 31, of Baldwinsville, per the State Police.

Parker remained at the scene and attempted life-saving measures until emergency first responders arrived. Snow was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The investigation is ongoing, State Police say.
