UTICA, N.Y. — The Workforce Development Board of Herkimer, Madison, and Oneida Counties, Inc. (WDB/HMO) says it’s sponsoring a paid, 15-week training program for people interested in pursuing a career in the skilled trades.
The Mohawk Valley Build (MV Build) Pathways to Apprenticeship program provides classroom and hands-on experience; a nationally recognized credential; and a chance to enter a union apprenticeship upon completing the program, per the announcement.
The program runs from Sept. 8 to Dec. 22 with classes being held three days per week from 5-8:30 p.m.

“MV Build equips local residents for high-demand careers in the skilled trades,” Meghan McBennett, project director, said in the announcement. “The program offers individuals the opportunity to gain in-demand skills — including construction math, blueprint reading, and hands-on experience with hand and power tools, and industry-recognized certifications. This 15-week, 140-hour course prepares participants for direct entry into the skilled trades through union-sponsored apprenticeship pathways.
