BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Broome County is planning for a record amount of roadwork completed this summer for the fifth summer in a row, County Executive Jason Garnar and Deputy Commissioner of Public Works Chet Kupiec announced.
The 2025 highway reconstruction and rehabilitation plan encompasses more than 40 projects. That includes paving 39 miles of roads, and road maintenance and pavement preservation work covering 46 miles, for a total of 85 miles. Last year, Broome County fixed 84 miles, up from 83 miles repaired in 2023 and 72 miles in 2022.
Area motorists are advised to allow for extra time during commutes to accommodate for detours or changes in traffic patterns. They are also asked to use caution in work zones, even when they are not active, and slow down to keep everyone safe. Broome County will provide weekly roadwork updates to help drivers plan.
