NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. — Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. (HPC) has received a Mother Cabrini Health Foundation grant to fund a new registered nurse education and advocacy specialist position at the organization, HPC announced.
Tina Yelle, a registered nurse with 12 years of nursing experience and eight years of experience in hospice palliate care, has filled the position where she will focus on improving access to education, advocacy, and care services for patients of all ages and backgrounds, especially those in underserved and rural areas.
Yelle, who is also an end-of-life doula, will serve as an advocate for patients and families, providing guidance and support while ensuring the needs of rural residents are met with compassion and dignity, HPC said.

The grant enables HPC to address several barriers to care faced by rural communities such as limited access to health-care resources and lack of awareness about hospice and palliative-care options. The specialist position will help bridge this gap by ensuring community members are informed, empowered, and supported in navigating the health-care system, the organization added.
Hospice & Palliative Care provides comprehensive hospice and palliative-care services in Oneida, Herkimer, and eastern Madison counties.
