BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce announced it has joined The Manufacturers Alliance of New York, led by the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY), The Manufacturers Association.
The move will bolster manufacturing advocacy and workforce development in the Southern Tier, the chamber said. The alliance is a group of nine manufacturing and business associations that leverage its combined strength to drive initiatives and influence legislation, policy, and state funding.
“MACNY has had a powerful voice on the issues impacting and supporting the growth of our manufacturing sector in New York state,” Leadership Alliance CEO Stacey Duncan said in the announcement. “This partnership is critical now, more than ever, given the resurgence of domestic manufacturing and the positive momentum we’ve built here in the Southern Tier.”

In addition to advocacy efforts, the chamber will provide support to local manufacturers to develop registered apprenticeship programs by facilitating implementation and providing administrative support. By leveraging grants and specialized programs, the chamber will play a key role in strengthening the educational pipeline and addressing critical industry needs such as the development of a skilled workforce. Funding for the launch of the registered apprenticeship program is supported by the Manufacturers Intermediary Apprenticeship Program from state Sen. Lea Webb (D–52nd District).

The alliance also includes the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Buffalo Niagara Manufacturing Alliance, Center for Economic Growth, The Council of Industry, Ignite LI, Manufacturers Alliance of the Southern Tier, and the Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association.
