UTICA, N.Y. — UCP now stands for Upstate Caring Partners after Upstate Cerebral Palsy changed its name to better reflect the diversity of services the agency offers to the community and more broadly represent the individuals it serves.
“Our agency was founded over 70 years ago by individuals from our community who sought to develop services for their loved ones with cerebral palsy,” UCP Executive Director Geno DeCondo said in a press statement. “As our agency has grown and expanded throughout the years, we have evolved to serve a broad spectrum of individuals with all abilities.”
The new name reflects the agency’s current scope. That includes employing about 1,800 full- and part-time staff at 74 locations in four counties to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral-health services.
