UTICA, N.Y. — The Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) recently announced the addition of two new employees.
Nicole Sardina, a registered nurse, has joined the MVHS Thoracic Surgery Group as thoracic oncology nurse navigator. Located in the Marian Medical Building, Sardina is accepting new patients.
Additionally, the MVHS plastic surgery office has added Jared Potts, M.D., as a hand/plastic surgeon at its Faxton Campus in Utica. He is seeing new patients by referral only.

Prior to joining the thoracic surgery group, Sardina worked as structural heart coordinator at St. Elizabeth Medial Campus in Utica and structural heart nurse navigator/ICU nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center in Syracuse. She holds an associate degree in nursing from St. Elizabeth College of Nursing and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Southern New Hampshire University. Sardina is currently certified in advanced cardiac life support, the trauma nursing core course, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Prior to joining MVHS, Potts was a hand/plastic surgeon at Slocum-Dickson Medical Group in New Hartford. Potts holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Mount Union College in Ohio and a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from Tufts University School of Medicine in Massachusetts. He completed a residency in plastic surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and a fellowship in orthopedic hand surgery at the University of Connecticut.
